UAE visa for GCC citizens 2026: current status
GCC citizens do not need a visa to enter the UAE. They present a GCC passport or national ID card at the point of entry.
This page covers citizens of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar. The rule is the same for all five, which is why this is one page rather than five identical ones.
What does not apply to you
Most published material on UAE visas is written for a different audience, so it is easy to read warnings that have nothing to do with you. None of the following applies to GCC citizens:
- A sponsor. You need no employer or individual to sponsor your entry or your stay.
- Visa and entry permit fees. Not charged to you.
- The good conduct certificate. That is a condition attached to expatriate employment visas, not to your entry.
- The grace period after cancellation. There is no residence to cancel and no overstay fine arises.
- Visa suspensions. The one confirmed suspension in force covers three countries, none in the GCC.
- Circulating "banned country" lists. No GCC state appears in any version we have seen.
What does apply to you
If you work in the UAE you sit under UAE labour law like any other employee, and that is where the questions that actually cost money live: how end-of-service gratuity is calculated, what overtime is owed, how much annual leave has accrued, and what happens when a contract ends. None of it is tied to nationality or visa type. It is tied to your contract and your years of service.
On tax, there is no personal income tax on salaries in the UAE. If you run a business, corporate tax at 9% above the AED 375,000 threshold and VAT at 5% above the registration threshold apply to you exactly as to anyone else. Nationality changes neither.
